This includes the Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Hawke’s Bay who originally established the school, as well as members of the Christian community of Napier and Hastings, who have chosen to send their children to the school because of its special character. The school has a tradition of valuing the support and input from the wider Christian community it serves.

This body, which owns all Seventh-day Adventist Schools within New Zealand, jointly shares, with the Board of Trustees and the school's management, the responsibility for ensuring that the Special Character of the school is maintained.
